Chinese New Year is a memorable time for our family. Just last year, we welcomed baby Leroy into our family on the first day of Chinese New Year! What a way to celebrate and usher in the new year!
This year, yours truly will be involved in a Chinese New Year event organised by SingEx, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings and venue manager for Singapore EXPO and MAX Atria.
PlayLAH! Let’s Celebrate Chinese New Year 2017 is a family carnival that’s happening from 19 – 22 January. Expect to partake in a series of exciting family-friendly activities, along with New Year themed rides and learning zones, hands-on sessions for children and education booths!
The event is mapped into 4 key areas: Play, Learn, Eat and Bond; each promising a good time for everyone in the family. Designed with children in mind, families can enjoy parent-bonding opportunities, learn new skills or indulge in a gastronomic adventure.

PLAY
You won’t miss that 18-metre long bouncy castle! Children will delight in this gigantic bouncing fun! There are also kids bumper cars, and old school carnival game stalls to take you back to the yesteryears.
LEARN
How much do you really know about Chinese New Year? PlayLAH! Let’s Celebrate Chinese New Year 2017 incorporates an educational zone to share about our Chinese culture, with knowledge presented in an engaging way for families.
Expect to learn about Chinese New Year traditions and Chinese zodiac prediction, appreciate cultural performances and pick up tips on how to grow your own greens! New-age kids, do check out your favourite tech segments of flying drones and 3D pen and painting too!
EAT
Food is one of the best ways of bringing people together, and that’s true even at PlayLAH! Let’s Celebrate Chinese New Year 2017!
Indulge in traditional Chinese cuisine such as Hakka Yong Toufu, Indian dishes like Chicken Briyani and local favourites of Kueh Pie Tee! Wash that all down with a frothy cup of Teh Tarik, and end of with healthy snacks. Shiok!
BOND
Time to get crafty with your kids! With several DIY stations, kids will love the hands-on sessions of putting together their own creations. Take your pick from recycling projects, DIY balloon car, toy construction and CNY decor workshops.

Nope, Vera and Leroy will not be performing, but I’ll be on the judge’s panel to sieve out the top 3 children who will WIN amazing prizes! Come by on 22 January (Sun) and get ready to be blown away by these young talents! Lend some support to these brave kids: 4.30pm – 6pm!
